In 2012 Lisa Nordén took Olympic silver in triathlon.

But this summer, most of the headlines around her were about bicycles. This summer she took the SM gold in tempo, and two and a half weeks ago she competed for the first time against the world elite, when she cycled into 42nd place at the World Cup competition in Vårgårda.

European Tour in France

Now it is clear that she will be pitted against the cycling elite again this fall. On October 20, she will be participating in the Chrone des Nations temple race in France, a competition that is part of the European Tour and was won by Susanne Ljungskog in both 2007 and 2008.

- It's pretty high on it. And there are Olympic qualification points that are at stake for Sweden there. And it is one of the few tempo races available where you can ride and run as an individual race. Otherwise, tempo is often set in stage races and such, she tells SVT Sport.

Should you see this as a step towards a real bike bet for you?

- Hard to say. It is quite late, and not so well prepared. Just like in triathlons, you should have started two years ago if you had done it well. But Sweden has no Olympic place at all in pace, so if you want to look at that opportunity, Sweden must first and foremost get a place, and then someone must take points to have the chance.

- So just being there gives Sweden the chance to get a place, if I were to do very well.

Sweden's normally best cyclist, Emilia Fahlin, has not competed since she crashed in Spain and injured her skull and brain.
