If the intended tour starts in Edinburgh, it would be the first time ever that the World Cup circus comes to Scotland. Anders Blomquist, however, is most looking forward to the competitions in Sweden and Norway.

- In sport, the races in Östersund and Trondheim will be the most decisive, but it is clear that it tickles with the long run starting in Storlien and finishing time in Norway and also the sprint in Åre, says SVT Sports skiing expert.

Isn't the risk that there will be too much focus on the Nordic countries?

- You have an ambition to broaden the sport, and sports will be great competitions, but it is clear that there will be a lot of focus on Sweden and Norway when choosing this concept.

Nilsson positive to the tour

The tour is scheduled to run for over a week in mid-February 2020, and will also be included in the World Cup. Stina Nilsson is positive about the news.

- I enjoy competing at home and when Östersund had a competition last, it was very nice framing. Getting to drive in Åre and Östersund and then on to Trondheim and Norway would be super cool. I have heard a lot about the arrangement itself. I think it was great fun, Nilsson tells SVT Sport.

"Will lift cross-country skiing further"

SVT Sports expert Mathias Fredriksson is Swedish project manager for the tour.

- It feels fantastic to be able to present our plans on our own ski tour in an area that is snow-safe and where several of the world's best skiers live and work. The skiing interest is already very big here, but through the tour we get the opportunity to showcase the sport in a way that will lift the cross-country skiing further, he says in a press release.

The length committee within the FIS has approved the proposal for the new tour. Within the next few weeks, the final decision will be made by the FIS board, which they are also expected to approve.
