After a lengthy trial, Meraf Bahta today made a comeback following the suspension she suffered after making repeated misses in stay reporting, reporting where one is so doping controllers know where the athletes are.

The comeback took place at the SM in Karlstad, where Bahta ran 5,000 meters.

Double Half

After an unsuccessful move almost halfway into the race, it was only in the final stage of the race that Bahta managed to run away from the club mate in Hälle IF, Samrawi Mengesteab, and the others.

But in any case, she finished first of all, at 15.56.68. Time was a second better than silver medalist Mengsteabs, but just over half a minute from the World Cup qualifying limit which is 15.22.00.

- Nice to see that she had that last kick, even though she waited for quite a while. We'll see how it goes in 1500 meters in Zagreb, says SVT Sports expert Kajsa Bergqvist.

Bahta, who took the European gold in 2014 and the European silver 2016 in just 5,000 meters, is already running again on Tuesday in Zagreb. Then, however, it is 1,500 meters.
