Michel Torneus has had a long and successful, with a gold in the indoor European Championship 2015 as the main merit.

But now his career is over. It ended today at the Swedish Championships in Karlstad.

Two inches from bronze

But he didn't get the ending he probably wanted. He was four, only two inches from a bronze medal.

His best hope was the last. He then reached 7.72, bringing him to third place. But shortly thereafter Andreas Carlsson reached 7.74 - which brought Torneus down to the disgraceful fourth place.

- It is clear that I would have liked to jump a little longer in the last. But I wanted a white flag in the last, m and it was nice that it was as exciting as it became. And it is a little classic to me that it is about a centimeter here and there, he says to SVT Sport, and perhaps refers to him missing the Olympic medal by just one centimeter in London 2012.

"Incredibly grateful"

But despite the miss today, he is proud and happy about his career.

- I am incredibly grateful to have been able to do all this. It should only land a little now.

The gold medal took as expected Thobias Montler, at 8.01. Two became Andreas Otterling. He jumped just like Andreas Carlsson 7.74, but had a better second best jump.
