The Swedish field competition team's goal to secure the Olympic Games via the European Championships in Luhmühlen seems to succeed. Sweden, which has a silver to defend from the European Championships in Gothenburg two years ago, even has a chance at a medal if the results go the right way in Sunday's final jump.

Two Olympic venues are at stake in the European Championships. Sweden is fifth behind already Olympic-ready Germany, the UK and France. Italy is four and looks to take the second Olympic spot. Germany leads by far, while the other three countries are just a few points ahead of Sweden.

Belgium a good bit behind

Behind Sweden lies Ireland, which has also already redeemed the ticket to Tokyo. Belgium's closest competitor is well behind Sweden in the summary after two days of competing.

- They have ridden incredibly well, kept their plans and worked together as a team. I am very pleased, ”says Federation Captain Fredrik Bergendorff to SVT about the efforts of the Swedish riders.

Svenner steel faultless

Especially two shone during the terrain ride. Ludwig Svennerstål and Louise Romeike managed the tough terrain in Luhmühlen flawlessly and also advanced individually.

Svennerstål is eleventh and Romeike is in 14th place. However, it is well up to the medal seats and leading German Michael Jung.
