In the motor racing world, reports have responded to the death of Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert. The Frenchman was involved in a major accident during the race at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit on Saturday and died in the hospital.
"Totally shocked by the tragic accident of Anthoine Hubert, terrible", Max Verstappen reacts. "My thoughts are with him, his family, friends, team and loved ones."
"Rest in peace, Anthoine," says Alfa Romeo driver Antonio Giovinazzi via Twitter on the death of Hubert.
"No words. Condolences to Anthoine's family and friends, rest in peace," says McLaren driver Carlos Sainz. Former driver Pedro de la Rosa also expresses condolences. "He was a great racer."
Williams driver George Russell shared a photo of himself and Hubert on the podium, with the text "I can't believe it. RIP my friend."

According to Hamilton, motor sport is certainly not safe
"If any of you think that what we do is safe, then you are wrong," says Lewis Hamilton as a message on Instagram. "All drivers risk their lives when they leave the track and that is not appreciated enough."
As far as Hamilton is concerned, Hubert is "because he took the risk to pursue his dreams". "I am so sad that this happened. Let us remember him."

"We fought on the same circuits for years"
Hubert's compatriot Esteban Ocon also commented: "I can't believe it. We were the same age and we started racing together. We fought on the circuits for years."
Charles Leclerc also shared a photo of Hubert and himself, with only the text: "Can't believe it. Rest in peace."

"Terrible news," says former Formula 1 driver and analyst Karun Chandhok. "A great talent snatched too young."
The Haas Formula 1 team speaks of very tragic news. "Our thoughts are with his family and friends, but also with his team Arden, Renault (where Hubert was under contract, ed.) And the entire Formula 2 community."

"I can't believe it and have no words for it," says Dutch Formula 3 driver Richard Verschoor. "My thoughts are involved with everyone and especially with his family."
Hubert's former Dutch team Van Amersfoort Racing, for which the driver from Lyon drove Formula 3, only reports on Twitter "Oh my god, no."
Toyoharu Tanabe of motorcycle manufacturer Honda: "We are deeply touched by the death of Antoine Hubert. On behalf of the entire Honda Motor Company, we convey our condolences to his family and friends."
