Players of the Algerian Football League (UTF) waved a strike to protest their unpaid wages for six months.

The club is facing an unprecedented financial crisis, against the backdrop of the imprisonment of business owner Ali Haddad accused in corruption cases.

The players threatened to strike shortly after Sunday's match against AS Melilla in the third round of the tournament.

The management of the club failed to settle the financial problems of the players, especially after the order to quarantine the bank account of the team, and not yet allowed to sell Ali Haddad - which owns the majority of the shares of the club to a private oil company.

The government promised to settle the Union of Algiers issue soon and appointed an official to run the club's owner, but club officials threatened to declare bankruptcy if the situation continued for days.
