Former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Oliver Kahn has been selected to take over as chief executive of Bayern Munich, replacing Karl-Heinz Rummenigge who leaves on December 31, 2021, the club said in a statement.

The legend of the Bavarian club, who spent the years from 1994 to 2008, won the local title eight times, and the Champions League once in 2001, signed a five-year contract with the club.

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness said Kahn's appointment was "the perfect solution" because "he has always shown great sincerity and will."
