The 19-year-old Yastremska, ranked 32nd, won the match thanks to his heavy base. 71-ranked Peterson did not get much to sue and often defeated himself and had difficulty finding the winning strokes.

The match ball was snowy. Peterson had an excellent opportunity to pass the Ukrainian by net after a too weakly beaten ball by Yastremska but the Swedish struck in net. The Ukrainian was unaware that it was a match ball and turned up against her own baseline - before she returned and thanked for the match.

Although Peterson lost the first set, it felt like she was on the run, 2-5 went 4-5, but Yastremska broke the Swede directly in the second set and switched grip on the match.

The match was played yesterday but was moved to today due to rain. Today the sun was flowing on orbit 14.
