It was in the middle of the 100 meter race at Stockholm Stadium that Erik Hagberg fell to the ground. The 24-year-old stretched in the left back thigh and when he was to parry the case, the kneecap scene also went off in the right knee.

- He is operated and the operation went well, he is in good courage, says Henrik Wennberg Sports Manager in Upsala IF, the club for which Hagberg competes.

According to coach Torbjörn Eriksson, Hagberg has had several serious adversities in his career. Most recently in 2016 when an injury kept him away from the racetrack for almost two years.

- He has never had to run without injury for a whole year. He is used to working in the headwind so if anyone is going to deal with such an injury mentally then he is, says Torbjörn Eriksson to SVT Sport.

- It is impossible to say what is waiting now with this type of injury, but it is clear that everything is possible, says Eriksson.
