Kolbeinn Sigthorsson's shot in the post after two minutes became significant for AIK at home against Celtic. The reigning Swedish champion created a lot of chances but did not get to the finish. The visitors' central defense should have had no trouble clearing the pass to James Forrest, but the Thulls player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead.

Despite the back goal and a seemingly tough situation, the jump was still awakened in the 33rd minute when Sebastian Larsson was pulled down in the penalty area. Samme Larsson took care of the penalty and equalized in the match. Extra heavy then when Celtic immediately kicked off the lead again.

Michael Johnston caught the ball on the edge and sent a pass inwardly backwards that Oscar Linnér steered into his own goal via the left hand side.

- Terribly frustrating, we create more chances than them, but we do not score goals, says Sebastian Larsson to Viasat at the break.

In the second half, AIK continued to create their chances but the goals were not. Instead, it was Celtic who extended the lead through Christopher Jullien. Scottish victory to end 4-1 after another goal in extra time, 6-1 overall.

AIK will instead focus on the gold battle in Allsvenskan where they have an important meeting with the series leader Djurgården on Sunday.
