• Pioneer: A Mii with 260 kilometers of zero emissions
  • In 2020, this is the Seat el-Born: the first Spanish electric car

Although its most recent ecological commitment is based especially on CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), the Spanish brand Seat also addresses the paths of electrification and, in fact, will have its first 100% battery-powered models over the next year with a variant of the Mii and, a little later, with the novice El-Born.

But he also announced his intentions regarding plug-in hybrid technology with the Cupra Formentor, a scheme that in its first application reaches the Tarraco PHEV SUV, which will be presented as a prototype at the Frankfurt Motor Show but will be a real model already in 2020.

The heart of your undercarriage is the 13 kWh lithium-ion battery that allows you to store enough electrical energy to travel more than 50 kilometers in clean mode and sign C02 emissions below 50 gr / km.

Its hybrid engine combines a gasoline unit 1.4 TSI of 150 hp and an electric propeller of 116 for a combined power of 245 hp , which makes it the most powerful Tarraco in the range. And also the most performance as it will reach 217 km / h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 7.4 seconds.

The Seat Tarraco PHEV is presented, in addition, in the FR sports finish , which includes 19 "wheels as standard (although optionally can be ordered even in 20"), a specific grille and a new color (Fura gray). Inside we will see bacquet seats, aluminum pedals and a sports steering wheel.

The Seat Tarraco PHEV will be one of the few plug-in hybrid options in the segment of large generalist SUVs (the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, the DS7 Crossback e-tense, the Volvo XC40 Twin Engine or the Mini Cooper Countryman SE are the most options similar), although it is expected that the supply of other brands will also expand in the coming months.

The plug-in technology will be the protagonist in the ranges of Seat and Cupra, its sports brand, during 2020 as it is expected that up to six plug-in variants will reach its catalog.
