- As the work progressed, I felt that the role suited me. In the end, it landed in that I thought that maybe I should apply for the job, he tells SVT Sport.

Now the union has also chosen to appoint the former mountain bike and road bike professional. Kessiakoff has served as a board member of the bicycle association and has been the branch group responsible for mountain biking until now.

- It feels exciting to take on and have the opportunity to continue the development work and reorganization.

Want to get Swedish world stars

The union has undergone a lot of changes and restructuring lately.

Do you have any specific goals?

- To actually join and develop our cyclists instead of just going to championships and "ticking off" them. I want to see that the union has a bigger part in the Swedish successes. That in a few years we have new Swedish world stars and that we have had a large part in their development.

Currently, there is a Swedish world star in the sport. Jenny Rissveds who competes for and manages most of her own team.

- I hope we will have a close cooperation with her and her team.

Rissved's competes at a significantly higher level than the rest of the Swedish national team players.

- I'm more like an extra support. We want to create the best conditions for her, whether she continues to run with her own team or not in the future.
