Fabio Jakobsen won the fourth stage in the Vuelta a España on Tuesday. The Dutchman proved himself to be the strongest in the mass sprint after a largely flat ride.

The 22-year-old Jakobsen pushed his wheel just a little earlier than the Irishman Sam Bennett, who had won the third stage on Monday. The German Max Walscheid from Team Sunweb completed the podium.

For Steven Kruijswijk, the Vuelta came to an end on Tuesday. The shadow leader of Jumbo-Visma, who finished third in July in the Tour de France, sustained a knee injury on Saturday in his fall in the team time trial and remained bothered by it the last few days.

The Tour of Spain will continue on Wednesday with the first mountain stage of this edition. The peloton leaves from L'Eliana and arrives 170.7 kilometers later in Javalambre, arriving uphill.
