- Golf has meant a lot to me for many years. But now it is more important than ever. The first thing I thought when I got a little better was to somehow return to golf. Being able to practice a sport is happiness. Meet friends and get the necessary training and exercise, says Henrik Posse to SVT Sport.

He now has 30 handicaps and played his first competition this summer at Lidingö. One of the competitions in the Handitouren (six competitions during the year).

How much benefit have you been to being a skilled golfer before?

- My swing is not much like golf. But the feeling - even though I have no wrists - is there. The driver and the close-up game are what work best. Spacing with the iron clubs works worse. The putting is perfectly ok too. And I still have the ball mind. It does not disappear as luck is.

Four years ago, he got sick, in what he himself thought was a flu. In the end, he became so ill that he had to seek urgent care at the hospital. It turned out that he suffered a sepsis (blood poisoning). Which developed into a septic shock. A very serious condition.

The awful awakening

He was in a coma and woke up seven weeks later. The doctors had had to amputate his two arms and both legs above the knee. In addition, renal function was eliminated and hearing was severely impaired.

- Of course, it was an incredible shock when the family and not least my daughter stood around me when I woke up. What was really hard afterwards was that the kidneys did not work. I was forced into almost daily dialysis and felt terribly bad, says Henrik Posse.

After a while, his childhood friend, Kalle Pellinen, offered to donate his one kidney.

- That Kalle has totally changed my life. Suddenly I got my life back and got better. It was absolutely amazing what Kalle did for me.

Soon after the traumatic events, he realized that he wanted to return to golf at all costs.

- It's so easy to just stay home and do nothing. In my situation it is difficult to get out at all.

But thanks to his stubbornness and will, he is now up and running again.

The special prosthesis

An American war veteran has invented a special prosthesis to which the club can be attached. And between the holes he can drive the golf car. Short stretches Henrik Posse manages to walk with his leg prostheses.

- The difficult thing right now is the balance. I always have to go and play with straight legs and can't use the hips in the swing. And blow it, it's really hard. The slightest puff of breath can cause me to lose balance.

Are you a racing person?

- Hehe, yes I am. Several times this summer have had the desire to throw the club. But it is not possible ... because it is stuck in the prosthesis, says Henrik Posse.
