With Juventus monopolizing the Serie A title for the past eight consecutive seasons, fans who are passionate about the game are hoping that the monopoly will end in the new season that starts on Saturday.

Amidst the strong nominations of Juventus, the fans are waiting for surprise from new coaches at some of the other big clubs, led by Antonio Conte, the new coach of Inter Milan.

Conte was frank and professional in explaining why he accepted the job of Inter, and his desire to end the dominance of Juventus, who has succeeded him as a player and coach.

"A few days after he signed Inter in mid-May," he said, "In the last eight seasons, there has been no competition for first place in the league."

Conte took charge of Inter after the rest of the past months following two seasons with Chelsea from 2016 to 2018 in which they won one title in the Premier League.

He has previously coached Juventus and led him to the first three titles in the last eight consecutive Serie A titles.

Conte then took charge of the team for two years before moving to the Premier League.

He has also won five league titles with Juventus as a midfielder.

"Here at Inter they want to change these things," Conte said. "The insistence of club president Stephen Chang impressed me. I can't wait to lead the team to the right place. Fans are waiting a lot and right."

The challenge, which annoys some Juventus fans, starts the day after the Nerazzurri visit Lecce at the end of the first round of the competition.

Conte began his football career in Lecce, where he was born in the same city as the club and stayed there until he moved to Turin to play for Juventus.

Many believe Inter will be Juventus' strongest contender this season. The latter is looking forward to winning the title for the ninth consecutive season.

Juventus are on the defensive this season under coach Maurizio Sarri, who took over from Massimiliano Alegre this summer.
