Borussia Dortmund has booked a hard-fought victory in the Bundesliga on Friday evening. Coach Lucien Favre's team won 1-3 at 1. FC Köln. In Spain, Luuk de Jong recorded a narrow victory with Seville visiting Granada: 0-1.
Where Dortmund started the competition last week with a resounding 5-1 home win at FC Augsburg, 'Die Schwarzgelben' had a harder time against Köln. After half an hour the home team even took the lead through a goal from Dominick Drexler.
Twenty minutes before time, Jadon Sancho signed for the equalizer. Dortmund seemed on the way to losing points in Cologne, but four minutes before the end, substitute Achraf Hakimi gave his team the lead and deep in injury time Paco Alcácer determined the final score.
Dortmund goes through the win with six points from two duels in the Bundesliga. Later this weekend, six other teams, including the Bayer Leverkusen of trainer Peter Bosz, can still take the lead.
De Jong has a narrow victory with Sevilla
In La Liga, De Jong was involved early in the second half in the only goal of Seville against Granada. The attacker rushed to the goal of Granada, but encountered two defenders of the home team. Joan Jordán then finished it.
De Jong, who came over from PSV this summer, played the entire game at Sevilla and is still waiting for his first league goal. Last week, he also failed to score with his official debut against Espanyol (0-2 win).
With the victory, Sevilla leads the league with six points from two duels in La Liga. Later this weekend the 'Rojiblancos' can still be passed by six other teams.
Frenkie de Jong will play with FC Barcelona in Camp Nou against Real Betis on Sunday. The reigning national champion then has the chance to recover from the defeat at Athletic Bilbao (1-0). Real Madrid will take on Real Valladolid on Saturday at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
