It was during Wednesday's World Tour competition in the Czech Republic that the accident occurred for Kristian Karlsson, ranked second in Sweden and ranked 25th in the world. During a match against South Korean Cho Dae-Seong, Karlsson was tricked into a ball and needed to change his foot quickly.

- Then he trampled obliquely and a ligament was injured. He is currently in Germany conducting rehab, and receiving treatments from the club doctor (in Borussia Düsseldorf), says associate captain Peter Blomquist.

Karlsson is fighting against the clock to be ready for the European Championship, which begins on September 3. Blomquist says it is very unclear how long it will take for the injury to heal. First, Karlsson will go on crutches for a week, starting Wednesday.

Peter Blomquist describes his ability to recover and not only be able to support his leg, but also to perform at the level required for the European Championships.

- If he doesn't play we have such a strong squad that the goal does not go down. We do not stand and fall with him. The others have shown that there are definitely opportunities to fight for the noblest medals, says Peter Blomquist.
