Ajax will start on Tuesday with Noussair Mazraoui and Joël Veltman in the rear of the driving duel with APOEL in the play-offs of the Champions League. Hakim Ziyech is, as expected, also in the base of the team from Amsterdam.
Mazraoui returns from a minor injury and plays as right back. Veltman is in the center with Lisandro Martínez and Nicolas Tagliafico is the rear left.
On Saturday, coach Erik ten Hag opted for Sergiño Dest, who is sitting on the bench against APOEL, in the won match with VVV-Venlo (1-4) in the back in the absence of Mazraoui. The same applies to Perr Schuurs, who started in Venlo instead of Veltman.
Midfield on Cyprus remains intact with Razvan Marin, Donny van de Beek and Daley Blind. As expected, the Ajax attack consists of Ziyech, captain Dusan Tadic and David Neres. Ziyech had an injured exchange with VVV, but his injury was not serious.
APOEL-Ajax starts Tuesday at 9 p.m. and is headed by Spanish referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz. The return is next Wednesday at the same time in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
On the way to the play-offs, Ajax barely dealt with the Greek PAOK. APOEL was too strong for the Azerbaijani Qarabag in two games.
Ajax setup: Onana; Mazraoui, Veltman, Martinez, Tagliafico; Marin, Van de Beek, Blind; Ziyech, Tadic, Neres.
