Daniel Schwaab has made his first minutes on Monday since his return to PSV. The thirty-year-old defender scored a goal in a closed exhibition game with FC Utrecht. Captain Ibrahim Afellay also participated.
PSV won the friendly match 2-0. In addition to Schwaab, twenty-year-old striker Amar Catic also scored.
The practice game was primarily intended to give game minutes to substitutes who are too old to play for Young PSV. Jorrit Hendrix, Robbin Ruiter, Bart Ramselaar and Trent Sainsbury, among others, were on the pitch.
Afellay also started in the base and was replaced in the second half. The captain has not played an official PSV game since his return this summer. At the beginning of August he did participate in a Young PSV practice game with Derby County under 23.
Schwaab returned to Germany after last season due to private circumstances, but decided more than a week ago to return to Eindhoven. He signed a contract for one year. The German played 85 matches for PSV in the past three seasons.
Schwaab stayed on the bench for ninety minutes on Sunday evening at PSV's victory over Heracles Almelo (0-2) in the Eredivisie. After three games, Mark van Bommel's team is in sixth place with seven points.
