FC Emmen won its first victory of the season in the Eredivisie on Saturday. The people from Drenthe were 2-0 too strong for sc Heerenveen on De Oude Meerdijk. Earlier in the evening, Sparta Rotterdam won 1-2 at ADO Den Haag.
Emmen started the match against Heerenveen excellent and took the lead after four minutes via a goal from Nikolai Laursen. The Deen shot a free kick from about 25 meters in the left corner.
Both teams then got the necessary chances in the first half. Jens Odgaard (header) and Hicham Faik (long shot) were close to the equalizer for Heerenveen and Michael de Leeuw (header) and Marko Kolar (shot) almost brought Emmen to 2-0.
Four minutes before the break, the home team was hit again. Glenn Bijl headed in a nice cross from Lorenzo Burnet, who shortly thereafter changed due to an injury.
In the second half Emmen and Heerenveen created a lot less danger. Ten minutes before the end, the home team seemed to get a penalty after Marko Kola was knocked down by goalkeeper Warner Hahn. Kola, however, was offside at the time of play, so the ball did not hit the dot. In injury time, rookie Freddy Quispel was still close to the goal.
With the win, Emmen climbs to twelfth with three points from just as many duels. Heerenveen has one point more and occupies sixth place.

ADO had the first big chance in the Cars Jeans Stadium, but Sparta goalkeeper Tim Coremans kept Tomás Necid from scoring. Halfway through the first half, Mohamed Rayhi on the other hand did score by shooting the ball hard into the roof of the goal.
The wing attacker was again accurate for Sparta a few minutes before the break. This time, he pushed the ball into the far corner after a beautiful pass from Ibrahim Dervisoglu. In the extra time of the first half, Abdou Harroui failed to expand the margin with a shot that went just wide.
After the break ADO went on the hunt for the connection goal. Necid and Danny Bakker missed some opportunities for the home team, after which Lex Immers found the goal eleven minutes before the end. The midfielder headed in a corner.
In the final phase, the residents of Hagen were close to the equalizer a few times via Shaquille Pinas and Necid, but Sparta eventually held its ground and dragged the second victory of the season out of the fire.
Sparta has an excellent start to the season with seven points and is in third place. Leader Ajax and Vitesse are on seven points, just like Sparta, but both have a better goal balance than the Kasteelclub. ADO has a disappointing start to the season and is still waiting for the first point.
