- The episode with your participation has become one of the most discussed following the results of last weekend, not only in Russia, but also in the West. Surprised?

- Yes a little. Not so often, such non-verbal contacts between the football player and the referee resonate on social networks. But everyone could be in my place. The referee throughout the match participates in many psychological micro-duels. Perhaps it’s good that this does not always fall into the lens of television cameras. But what happened was a spontaneous reaction.

- Is it important for the referee to feel comfortable in such micro duels?

- Each referee must be ready for anything. We know some players well and find our approach to them. It is worth noting that all the judges of the Russian Premier League (RPL) go a long way, which makes them truly strong-willed individuals. If you look closely at their behavior on the field, consider the episodes, then we will see many examples of timely and correct management decisions that you can take into service.

- What was the first thought that came to mind after the ball hit you?

- To begin with, the ball is an object that a player can use to physically affect an opponent or an official. Therefore, I admit, at first there were bad thoughts. But then Malcolm apologized and my intuitive reaction followed.

“Did you immediately understand who did this?”

- I felt where the ball came from and cast a glance there.

“What did you mean by showing Malky the thumb?”

- This is the most common gesture, known since ancient times. Showing it to the gladiator expressed approval and left him alive. In this case, you can find many meanings in it. This is an assessment of the skill of a football player who got to the judge from a distance of 40 meters, and self-irony. Everyone will find something different.

- Despite the approving gesture, your face remained stern.

- Probably, this image is most close to me, it is more comfortable in it. But the most important thing is how it is perceived from the outside.

  • Turbin about his reaction to the ball being hit by midfielder Malcolm in the match Dynamo - Zenit

- Did you have the temptation to punish the Brazilian with a card, or are such episodes not punishable?

- No, I quickly calmed down. But if you follow the dry rules, then the deliberate hit of any object in the match official is clearly punishable by a red card. Therefore, there were many thoughts, but they all quickly disappeared, and only positive remained.

- Did you discuss what happened after the game with your colleagues or inspector?

- Not. Honestly, only after some time I learned that the episode was broadcast.

- What was the reaction of friends and acquaintances?

- Everyone smiled, and some even laughed. On the first day, I probably received 150 of these wonderful laughing emoticons with tears in their eyes. Yes, and still they continue to come to me.

- In the official Twitter “Match TV”, they advised you to show Quentin Tarantino your reaction ...

- I also wanted to call the eminent director and offer him to hire a cameraman, thanks to whom everyone learned about this episode. He is well done.

- Have you seen the reaction of Artyom Dziuba, who played a pantomime showing a Brazilian a card?

- Honestly, I could not find the video. But knowing Artyom as a person with humor, I can imagine that it looked good. Or maybe he was drawn to refereeing? But I must say that he has all the prerequisites for this.

- What exactly qualities would help him in this?

- Dziuba loves football. In addition, each referee has an incredible determination, which helps him in difficult situations. And throughout his career Artyom proves that he has this trait.

- In general, how much easier is it to work in matches when players relate to what is happening with humor and self-irony?

- It is always great when someone knows how to relieve tension, make fun of themselves in certain situations. It is always easier to live with optimism.

- In your opinion, do such episodes positively affect the image of the judiciary?

“I don't see anything supernatural in my reaction.” But this episode can really allow people to be more attentive to judges, to notice unusual gestures, especially non-verbal communication.

- Are you pleased that it was you who showed this to people not only in Russia but also abroad?

- Each referee wants his actions to help his colleagues, the image of refereeing, which sometimes suffers due to the complexity and ambiguity of this profession. But again, my merit is not here.

- Is it worth the RPL to make a selection of not only the best goals and saves, but also, for example, reactions, emotions of the referee during matches?

- Our main task is to make players show their best qualities on the field. And stick out the arbiter, create from this performance is not worth it. Athletes should be in the foreground. Therefore, increased attention to refereeing is not necessary. We are an example of modest workaholics who professionally carry out their work and benefit football.

- Nevertheless, in some countries whole shows are organized, in which not only athletes, but also those who surround them take part. And people come to look at them ...

- You know, there are individuals who are born to become stars in their profession. But we must be above the battle, observe, control and not come to the fore. The referee can make a show, show some undeserved red cards, which will make people have a different attitude to football.

- And if you evaluate yourself by the totality of charisma and artistry, then what place would you put yourself among Russian referees?

- I do not think that a person should evaluate himself from this point of view. You cannot put yourself above anyone else. There is no point in this.

- How many attempts would you need to get to Malky if you could arrange such a challenge?

- I would take part in such a challenge, but with one condition: if I get to Malky, I will go to Barcelona, and he becomes an arbiter.

- The match for the UEFA Super Cup between Liverpool and Chelsea was first judged by the women's referee team led by Stephanie Frappar. How do you rate their refereeing?

- Brilliant work, which caused a positive response from everyone who watched the meeting. This is probably the best female refereeing I've seen in my life. I would like Russia to follow this example, because we have very capable and talented girls, primarily Anastasia Pustovoitova. It is worth noting that these referees calmly pass men's standards, which once again speaks of their professionalism. So, gradually something is changing.

- Will they go to the RPL to attract women's teams to refereeing?

- If UEFA was not afraid to take a chance, then why not our football authorities to follow their example? Of course, women working at such a level have great professionalism and a special approach to their work. It is very difficult, but I have experience teaching beginner female referees.

- How can the attitude towards judges change if such a team appears in Russia?

- I think the players a priori start to behave differently on the field when the match is served by a female team. If a person is brought up, then he will restrain himself, monitor his behavior. This was shown by the match for the UEFA Super Cup. Yes, in the end the game got heated and disagreements began to arise, but before that there was an honest fight in which the rivals respected each other and practically did not break the rules. This is the merit of the judges.

- From a psychological point of view, will the appearance of women's teams affect the men's judiciary, whose representatives will be aware that there is someone who does their job no worse?

- This question needs to be asked to each separately. But I do not think that men are afraid of competition from women. They are only happy with their success. And this is the only right approach.
