The Mitchelton-Scott team unveiled its team of eight riders for La Vuelta a España on Friday, with the outstanding absence of the British Simon Yates , who will not defend the title achieved in 2018 after his participation in the Tour of Italy and in the Tour de France .

Neither Simon Yates, nor his twin brother Adam are among the eight cyclists nominated by the team for the next edition of La Vuelta a España, which will be held between August 24 and September 15.

The Colombian Esteban Chaves , third in the Spanish round in 2016 -which his compatriot Nairo Quintana won- , and the Spanish Mikel Nieve will be the great strengths of the Mitchelton-Scott team, which will focus on achieving stage victories and exploiting its possibilities in the general classification.

New Zealanders Sam Bewley and Dion Smith , Ethiopian Tsgabu Grmay , Australians Damien Howson and Nick Schultz and Slovenian Luka Mezgec complete the team.
