Just like Ajax, PSV will not play in the Eredivisie next weekend. The match between Eindhoven and FC Groningen will be moved from Saturday 24 August to Wednesday 25 September due to the European success.
PSV qualified for the play-offs of the Europa League on Thursday at the expense of FK Haugesund. The team of coach Mark van Bommel won the first game last week in Norway with 0-1 and so the scoreless draw of Thursday at the Philips Stadium was enough to continue.
Earlier this week, PSV already announced that the league match with FC Groningen would be moved to 25 September, provided that the Eindhoven players reached the play-offs. The duel with the 'Trots of the North' starts that Wednesday at 6.30 p.m.
PSV starts the decisive play-off in the Europa League against Apollon Limassol on Thursday, August 22 with a home game. The number two of the previous Eredivisie season will visit the club from Cyprus a week later.
Ajax-Fortuna has already been relocated
Due to the shift in the competition schedule, only seven clubs will take action next weekend. The Ajax duel with Fortuna Sittard was moved to 25 September at an earlier stage. The team from Amsterdam qualified for the play-offs of the Champions League on Tuesday-evening at the expense of PAOK.
As of this season, clubs that play European football have the right to play their matches at a different time to get more rest for a European match.
Like PSV, Feyenoord and AZ qualified for the Europa League play-offs on Thursday. The Rotterdam-squad eliminated Dinamo Tbilisi and the Alkmaarders settled in two games with the Ukrainian FC Mariupol.
