MADRID (Reuters) - Real Madrid suffered a serious blow to Belgian striker Eden Hazard with a thigh muscle injury on Friday, the club said.

Hazar, who moved to Real from Chelsea for a fee of 100 million euros, is self-sufficient for his team's opening match against Celta Vigo scheduled for Saturday in the first phase of the Spanish league season for the season 2020-2020, but he suffered a thigh injury at his training grounds.

According to the official website of Spanish newspaper AS, the injury could put Hazard out for three to four weeks.

"Following tests at the end of the training session today by the medical staff, Eden Hazard was injured in the muscles of the right thigh. We will continue his rehabilitation," the club said in a statement.

Real are suffering from several injuries in their ranks, the most serious of his winger Marco Asensio, who underwent surgery in the cruciate ligament and will be absent for several months in addition to the left winger Frenchman Ferlan Mendi, who is coming from Lyon earlier this season suffering from a calf injury.
