National team setback: Rolfö misses the European Championship qualifier

In the bronze match, Fridolina Rolfö linked out with a ligament injury in one foot, which she incurred in connection with Sofia Jakobsson's 2-0 goals.

And that is precisely the injury that causes her to miss Wolfsburg's league premiere this weekend - and Sweden's European Championship qualifier against Latvia in early September.

- I've started running, but still have a while to go before playing football, she tells SVT Sport.

How far from football training are you?

- It's hard to say. We may take it day by day, and week by week and see how it feels, but I hope it is not too far away.

Rolfö has switched from Bayern Munich to Wolfsburg, and has thus missed the entire preseason - and misses the start of the league season.

- I will not be ready for the premiere. Unfortunately. But I hope there are not many matches away, she says, and also count out the European Championship qualifier against Latvia on September 3.

- Since I haven't been in training, it's not relevant.
