Just three weeks after its presentation in London, the Lotus Evija is already prepared to cross the Atlantic Ocean and debut at Monterey Car Week , one of the most prestigious classic car and collector car festivals in the world, and which this year starts August 9 on the central coast of California.

The Evija is the first electric Lotus in history and also the first fully electric British 'hypercar'. With an amazing power of 2,000 hp and a maximum torque of 1,700 Nm , it is the most powerful serial production car in the world. It has been designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom and will be produced from 2020 at Hethel , the Lotus headquarters since 1966. Exclusivity is guaranteed, since production is limited to a maximum of 130 units .

The ultralight carbon fiber monocoque also makes it the lightest production electric hypercar in the world. It weighs just 1,680 kilos , including the four electric motors (one on each wheel) and the powerful lithium-ion battery of 70kWh capacity , supplied by Williams Advanced Engineering as part of a joint venture for the development of advanced propulsion technologies .

The reduced weight of the Evija, together with the extraordinary power provided by the battery ( eight times more powerful than that of a Formula E ), allows you to enjoy extraordinary performance. The electric 'hypercar' accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in less than three seconds and from 0-300 km in less than nine seconds, while the maximum speed is electronically limited to 320 km / h .

According to Lotus, the Evija has an electrical autonomy of 400 kilometers and ensures that the recharge time of the battery is only 18 minutes , yes, with a supercharger of 350kW per hour (Tesla Supercharger V3 have a power 250 kW maximum). In addition, the battery is mounted in the center of the vehicle imitating the design of the sports cars with central motor, which offers advantages in terms of aerodynamics and weight distribution.

The Evija, which measures 4,459 mm long , two meters wide and has a height of 1,122 mm, is priced at 1.7 million pounds ( 1.84 million euros at the current exchange) plus taxes and fees. It is already available for reservations (270,000 euros on request) and manufacturing will start in 2020.
