The night's quarterfinals in the Rogers Cup in Toronto, just three weeks before the US Open, offered some really exciting matches. In addition to Serena Williams' revenge on Naomi Osaka, teenager Bianca Andreescu, 27th on the world rankings, pounced on world star Karolina Pliskova from the Czech Republic.

In the second set, the 19-year-old was forced to pause the match and tape his right thigh. Despite noticeable pain and poor mobility, she still managed to win 6-0, 2-6, 6-4 and advance in the tournament.

- When I step out on the tennis court I am completely fearless and do not take into account who I meet. I think it is becoming more and more noticeable, Andreescu says afterwards.

Now the American Sofia Kenin is waiting in the semi-finals. She is in turn ranked 29th in the world, two places behind Andreescu.
