Fabrizio Piscitelli , better known as Diabolik , one of the most important ultra bosses of the Italian Lazio football team, was shot dead in Rome on Wednesday, Italian media reported.

According to the first reconstruction of the events, Piscitelli was killed at around 7:00 p.m. local time (5:00 p.m. GMT) when he was sitting on a bench in the Aqueduct Park , located on the southeast periphery of the capital.

The Italian media explain that Piscitelli was shot in the back in the head, at the level of the left ear, and that it was a witness who warned the Police, who immediately cordoned off the area.

At the moment the identity of the aggressor is unknown and the Italian authorities have opened an investigation to clarify what happened, which is not currently directed against anyone in particular.

Piscitelli, 53 , was investigated in the past for having links to drug trafficking and was even related to the corruption case known as "Mafia Capital" , a criminal network that operated in the business and political arena of Rome and was uncovered in 2014.

Diabolik was also known for his anti-Semitic and misogynist messages, as among other things he defended the need to prevent women's participation in football.
