Discus thrower Simon Pettersson passed the World Cup qualifying limit this weekend and now, just like the stalwart Melker Svärd Jacobsson, joins the Swedish squad for the athletics World Cup in Doha, Qatar this fall.

This is confirmed by the Confederation Captain Karin Torneklint on the Confederation's website.

“It's fun that we now have two more who are ready for the World Cup in Doha. Simon recently passed the qualifying limit but has shown in several competitions that he is on the rise. Melker is in the running now after he chose to make a later start of the race. He passed the qualifying limit already last winter, ”says Torneklint.

Earlier, Daniel Ståhl (discus) and Armand Duplantis (stake jump) were also selected in the branches.

The World Cup will be decided on 27 September to 6 October.
