In May, Peter "Peja" Lindholm announced that he would quit as the national team captain for the Swedish curling national teams, to take over China instead - with a view to the Beijing 2022 Olympics.

At that time, the chairman of the Swedish Curling Association, Michael Marklund, told us that the goal of the association was to have a new union captain before the summer.

Seen over the organization

That was not the case. As summer is now nearing its end, and the racing season for the elite team is nearing a start, a new national team captain has still not been presented. But that has an explanation, says Marklund for SVT Sport.

- We had a meeting, and then we decided to look over the entire national team organization, in collaboration with SOK. And we've done a review of the job description, and the next federal team will be more development manager than what "Peja" was, he says, and compare it all to being both sports manager and general manager of ice hockey.

"Interviews next week"

But now the union is approaching a solution.

- We have some interviews next week. So I hope we can have something clear pretty soon, ”says Marklund.

What do you want to see with the new federal captain?

- Someone can bring the law on a long-term development journey. Not only the top teams (Hasselborg and Edin), but also those who are under. We have had some fantastic results in terms of results, but we have a distance to the team underneath, so we want to cover that.

Team Anna Hasselborg has won both the European Championships and the Olympic Games for the past two years, and Team Niklas Edin both the World Cup and the European Championships.
