In December, an investigation showed that the United States Olympic Committee has been silent for more than a year about the abusive allegations against US former national team physician in gymnastics, Larry Nassar. During that time, Nassar intervened on a dozen girls and young women.

And now 51 women are suing the United States Olympic Committee, according to the AP.

The lawsuit, which was filed Tuesday in Denver, describes in detail the abuses that date back to 1990 and refers to the December investigation. One of Larry Nassar's victims must have been eight years old.

Prison for up to 300 years

Most women say that they did not understand that they were sexually abused because of their age at the time of the abuse. They became aware of this when the scandal rolled up in 2018.

The US Olympic Committee does not want to comment on the matter, as long as the investigation is ongoing.

Larry Nassar has been sentenced in two trials up to 300 years in prison since more than 350 women testified about abuse.
