The riders of Lotto Soudal have decided to start again on Wednesday in the fifth stage of the Tour of Poland. The team management had released them in the choice to get back on the bike after the death of Bjorg Lambrecht on Monday.

The 22-year-old Belgian died from the consequences of a serious crash in the third stage. The fourth stage was neutralized on Tuesday as a tribute.

Lambrecht was known as a great talent. Last year the Flemish became second at the World Cup for promises.

This season Lambrecht made its breakthrough with high classifications in the Ardennes classics. He finished sixth in the Amstel Gold Race, finished fourth in the Waalse Pijl and fifth in the Brabantse Pijl.

It has been decided that all our Lotto Soudal riders will start in stage five of the @Tour_de_Pologne today and will ride for Bjorg. Start will be around 12h45.

Tuesday's stage was a tribute to Lambrecht

The six teammates from Lambrecht - the Belgians Sander Armée, Harm Vanhoucke, Jelle Wallays and Enzo Wouters, the Norwegian Carl Fredrik Hagen and the Pool Tomasz Marczynski - finished the shortened stage in a slow pace shortly before the peloton on Tuesday and came first the finish. No winner was named.

On Wednesday at 12.45 the riders of Lotto Soudal will start in the fifth stage. They have decided to drive themselves and do that for Lambrecht, Lotto Soudal says.

The German Pascal Ackermann from BORA-hansgrohe wears the leader's jersey in the Polish WorldTour race. There are three more hilly stages on the program, the last one on Friday.
