The African Football Confederation (CAF) has imposed a new fine on Zamalek for $ 20,000 because of the club's failure to comply with the federation's regulations and conditions.

Zamalek crowned the Confederation Cup title against the Moroccan volcano rivals on penalties after the first leg ended with a 1-0 loss to Al Abyad before winning in the second leg at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria with the same result.

An African Union (CAF) letter sent to Zamalek through the Egyptian Football Federation said it had imposed the penalty for failing to hand over CAF and its sponsors their share of the Confederation Cup final.

The federation justified the high value of the fine by repeating the mistake on previous occasions and asked not to repeat the matter in the coming matches to avoid possible additional sanctions that may be imposed again.

The African Union punished Zamalek yesterday with a further fine of $ 22.5 thousand because of igniting candles and fireworks by the masses in the Confederation final.

The CAF statement included harsher penalties for Moroccan club Berkane, where the fine amounted to $ 62.5 thousand, due to the actions of fans, officials and players during the first leg in Morocco.
