Feyenoord started the season in the Eredivisie with loss of points, following Ajax and PSV on Sunday. The team of debuting coach Jaap Stam played a 2-2 tie at the last minute in the Rotterdam derby in-house against Sparta.
Feyenoord came back twice in the second half from a backlog. Steven Berghuis, who extended his contract with a year earlier in the day to mid-2022, made it 1-1 after Mohamed Rayhi's 0-1 and Sam Larsson in injury time after Lars Veldwijk's 1-2, 2-2.
At Feyenoord, Leroy Fer and Luciano Narsingh made their comeback and debut respectively. The midfielder, who was in the base, and the attacker, who fell in in the second half, both came over from Swansea City this summer.
Due to the surprising draw against Sparta, Feyenoord had a moderate general for Thursday's home game against Georgian champion Dinamo Tbilisi in the third preliminary round of the Europa League.
