Paris Saint-Germain has conquered the French Super Cup for the ninth time on Saturday. The national champion in Shenzhen, China, was 2-1 too strong for cup winner Stade Rennes.
Last season, Rennes, which finished tenth in the Ligue 1, was still too strong for PSG in the final of the Coupe de France. After 2-2 the club from the west of France took the penalty kicks better and on Saturday the team of coach Thomas Tuchel took revenge.
After thirteen minutes, Adrien Hunou did give Rennes the lead at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center and that was the halftime.
Twelve minutes after the break Kylian Mbappé equalized for PSG and fifteen minutes later Ángel Di María signed for the winning goal. Neymar, who is looking for a departure, was missing in the selection of the Parisians.

PSG will start title hunting next week
It is the seventh time in a row that the so-called Trophée des Champions is won by PSG, which also won the prize in 1995 and 1998.
Next week PSG's hunt for the third national title in a row and the ninth in total begins. Nimes is the first opponent of the club in Ligue 1 on Sunday 11 August in the Parc des Princes and another meeting with Rennes awaits in the second round.
Incidentally, it was the second time in a row that the French Super Cup was finished in Shenzhen. The game has been played outside of France since 2009, including in the Moroccan Tangier (2011 and 2017), the Canadian Montreal (2009 and 2015) and the Austrian Klagenfurt (2016).
