Brazilian international Danny Alves has rejected an offer to move to a Gulf Arab football club before finally signing with Brazilian side Sao Paulo, the daily UAL reported on Tuesday.

The Brazilian club announced on Thursday its contract with veteran captain Danny Alves until December 2022.

The newspaper said: "Alves refused an offer to play in the UAE because it does not meet his ambition and does not meet his wishes."

"In 2019, I could choose anywhere to play, but I chose to return to Brazil for my country, my people, and my club," the 36-year-old said in a video posted on his Twitter account.

The Brazilian, who has played for big clubs like Barcelona and Juventus, has been free since the end of his contract with Paris St Germain in June.
