The image of player Hassan Kajuki in the Malawian league was received on social networking sites and he received a chicken as a "Man of the Match" award, which was awarded by a club sponsor.
The pictures spawned a lot of comments, so Malawian's website explained that Hassan Kajuki had received a strange gift from a fan in recognition of his efforts in the matches.
Kajuki scored two goals and made the same two in the Big Pelt's 5-0 win over rival Carunga United at the Camuso Stadium on Sunday.
An anonymous fan asked to be given a gift, carrying a cardboard box that read "Kajoke BB". The hen was colored red, as a tradition of gifts in the Premier League.
