There are new developments in the rape case facing Cristiano Ronaldo, the Sun newspaper reported on Sunday. The defender, who is known to defend the star, has not been charged in the case against him 10 years ago.

"Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus striker, will not face charges of allegations of sexual assault committed by a teenage girl in Las Vegas 10 years ago," the report said.

Cristiano Ronaldo had been charged with raping a girl named Catherine Mayorga in Las Vegas in 2009. She claimed the Juventus star raped her at his wing in a hotel.

The story goes back to June 2009 when the girl told the police that she was a victim of sexual assault, but the Las Vegas police closed the case because there was no video evidence.

Last year, the case was brought back on the scene and Cristiano Ronaldo was indicted for rape, before the case was dropped again today because the allegations were "unprofitable".
