The British Simon Yates kidnapped on Thursday the first Pyrenean stage that connected Toulouse and Bagneres-de-Bigorre, via two passes of 1st category. The favorites have not moved.

The fireworks expected in the Pyrenees will wait a bit. The first stage that took the roads of the massif, between Toulouse and Bagneres-de-Bigorre, on 209.5 km, did not give rise to the slightest attack among the candidates for the final victory in the Tour de France. And it was one of the members of the big breakaway of the day (40 riders originally), the Briton Simon Yates, who raised his arms. Team rider Mitchelton Scott, winner of the 2018 Tour of Spain, was faster than his last two companions, Spaniard Pello Bilbao (Astana) and Austrian Gregor Mühlberger (Bora Hansgrohe).
