PSV has strengthened itself on Wednesday with Olivier Boscagli. The left-footed defender comes over from OGC Nice and signs for four years.
Boscagli was presented to the Eindhoven public shortly before the kick-off of the PSV-VfL Wolfsburg practice match on Wednesday, along with the other newcomers who were recruited this summer. These are the returned routine rider Ibrahim Afellay, the Spanish defender Toni Latorre, the Portuguese wing striker Bruma, reserve goalie Robbin Ruiter.
"Olivier is a talented, versatile player", technical manager John de Jong describes the acquisition. "And his age shows that there is still plenty of growth potential."
PSV does not report how much it pays for the 21-year-old Frenchman, but according to various media the transfer fee is around 2 million euros. The youth international has played 55 games in the Ligue 1 for Nice, for which he made his debut in 2015. The born Monegask came out on a rental basis in the 2017/2018 season for Nimes in the Ligue 2.
PSV said goodbye to defenders Daniel Schwaab, Angeliño, Aziz Behich and Armando Obispo earlier this summer. Trainer Mark van Bommel calls the arrival of Boscagli "a positive impulse".
"With Olivier we have a player who can play in multiple positions. We are very happy that he is there. Our selection is a bit more complete", the coach said.
