Ajax has reached an agreement with Juventus about the transfer of Matthijs de Ligt, reports De Telegraaf on Friday. The Italian club is said to pay around seventy million euros for the Orange-international, who was still under contract in the Johan Cruijff ArenA until mid-2021.
The clubs have not yet confirmed the transition from the Oranje-international. According to De Telegraaf , the transfer will be announced soon and the nineteen-year-old defender will not go to a training camp with Ajax to Austria anyway on Saturday.
De Ligt is after Frenkie de Jong, who has left for FC Barcelona, the second important player who leaves Ajax after the successful last season. The defender was also linked to Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and various English clubs this summer, but had a preference for Juventus.
At the club from Turin, which became champion in the Serie A last eight seasons, De Ligt becomes a teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo, among others. The big goal of the 'Bianconeri' is to win the Champions League for the first time since 1996 and for the third time in the coming season.

De Ligt makes possible debut against Tottenham
De Ligt will be one of the many newcomers this summer at Juventus. Coach Maurizio Sarri, who came over from Chelsea, previously strengthened his selection with defenders Luca Pellegrini and Merih Demiral and midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot. Moreover, 41-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon returned after a season at Paris Saint-Germain.
Next Sunday, De Ligt may be making his unofficial debut for Juventus, which is playing a friendly game in Singapore with Tottenham Hotspur, the club that kept Ajax dramatically out of the Champions League final last season.
After that, for Juve, practice duels with Internazionale (July 24 in Nanjing) and Atlético Madrid (August 10 in Stockholm) are on the program.
