FC Utrecht will probably meet HSK Zrinjski in the second heat of the Europa League. The Bosnian club was on Thursday in the first leg of the first heat with 0-3 too strong for Akademija Pandev.

Three weeks ago FC Utrecht was already linked to the winner of the diptych between Zrinjski and Akademija Pandev, who will play the return next Thursday in Mostar on Thursday.

In the match in the National Arena Tose Proeski in the northern Macedonian capital Skopje, Zrinjski led 0-2 within half an hour through goals from Irfan Hadzic and the Montenegrin Staniša Mandic.

In the second half, Miljan Govedarica set the final score at 0-3, leaving the Bosnians with one leg in the next round.

AZ is playing against BK Häcken

The matches of FC Utrecht in the second heat are played on July 25 and August 1. Coach John van den Brom's team has to survive two more laps to reach the Europa League group stage for the first time since 2010.

Prior to the first game between Zrinjski and Akademija Pandev, the Bosnian team was already the favorite. Zrinjski became Dutch champion six times this century and last season the club finished second behind champion Sarajevo.

Incidentally, FC Utrecht is not the only club that enters the second heat. AZ also has to pass three rounds for a place in the main tournament and the first opponent of the Alkmaarders is the Swedish BK Häcken. Feyenoord starts in the third heat and does not yet know which club will be hit.
