Known as the "Trezeguet" in the similarities with the features of the famous Frenchman David Trezeguet, but he finally scored a goal in the team of the Pharaohs with a great championship and lead his country to beat Zimbabwe in the opening of the African Nations Cup on Friday.

No one forgets the success of Trezeguet in making the decisive penalty for the 2018 World Cup qualifier by Mohamed Salah, but before the start of the Nations Cup, the player had not scored in any major tournament.

Trieste did not score at the 2017 Nations Cup, despite Egypt's arrival in the final, while he was criticized by fans because he was not up to expectations in the World Cup Russia, especially with the exit of the "Pharaohs" from the first round after three defeats in a row.

The 24-year-old Trezeguet has a right-wing position and is quick and capable of penetrating.

But in front of Zimbabwe, Kassem Pasha's current Turkish and Al Ahli teams have not missed the goal.

This is only the sixth goal for Trezeguet in 38 caps with Egypt, but he is the first official in a big tournament after scoring two goals in two friendly matches and three goals in the Nations Cup qualifiers.

The insistence of Trezeguet, who has repeatedly declared his refusal to end his experience in Europe to return to Egypt, seems to have made the difference this time.

"The ball from its beginning succeeded in passing and it was my decision from the beginning to make and record," said Trezeguet after Egypt's successful start in Group A, which also includes the DRC and Uganda.

Trezeguet did not care much about Egypt's second-half performance against Zimbabwe after he focused entirely on winning every game, hoping to win his country's eighth continental title.

"Our first and last goal is the three points and, God willing, we will play better in the coming games," said the player with great physical exertion.

Egypt holds the record for seven titles, most recently in 2010, and won the title in the last two times in which they hosted the competition in 1986 and 2006.

With the opening of the African Championship for the first time with the participation of 24 teams, and qualifying for the top four teams ranked third in the six groups, Egypt has already made a big step towards the emergence of the price of the final and before even facing the Democratic Republic of Congo next Wednesday and Uganda on 30 of this month.

If Trezeguet continue to score, as well as star striker Salah in the last two seasons, Egypt may have a chance to appear in the second consecutive final on 19 July.
