The 17-year-old biathlete of the junior national team of Russia, Artemy Khasankayev, died at a training camp in the Crimea. This is reported by the Russian Biathlon Union.

“RRF offers condolences to the families and friends of Artemy Khasankayev. A biathlete from the Murmansk region died on June 15 at a training camp in the Crimea, ”the report says.

The tragedy occurred in the Crimean mountains, where the athlete arrived at training sessions with other athletes from the Murmansk region.

The exact place and circumstances of the discovery of the body of the deceased is not reported, as well as the reasons for his death. However, TASS, citing its own sources in power structures, reports that problems with the cardiovascular system have become the cause of death.

“The identity of the deceased is confirmed and established. This is Hasankaev. Now the inspection is conducted by the regional management of the Investigative Committee. The most likely cause of death is cardiac arrest, ”TASS quoted the words of the representative of the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Crimea.

According to the Republican Emergencies Ministry, the biathlete and his friends went for a morning jog, but did not return back. Loss of fellow peers discovered after returning to the recreation center, which is located in the area of the village of Rybachye near Alushta. According to the preliminary version, Artemy Khasankaev lagged behind the group and turned off the tourist trail. The biathlete had only ski poles from the inventory.

After waiting a few hours and without waiting for news from Khasankayev, the group representatives asked for help. The first call to the local rescue service arrived around 4:30 pm Moscow time. It is noted that the Emergencies Ministry employees worked strictly according to the protocol and arrived at the scene of the tragedy.

Later, other agencies joined the search for Artem Khasankayev. Additional outfits of rescuers and divers Krym-Spas, dog handlers with service dogs representing Rossoyuzspas, as well as fire brigade officers arrived at the scene of the incident. A few hours later the volunteers of the search and rescue squad Lisa Alert joined the rescuers.

However, the large-scale operation, which covered not only the mountainous forest area, but also the water area of the Black Sea, did not bring the expected result. At night, the search was forced to stop due to weather conditions and resumed only early in the morning. It was during these hours that rescuers discovered the body of an athlete.

“Unfortunately, the victim was found without signs of life. An investigation is underway, ”the RIA quotes the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea, Sergey Shakhov.

Experts and fans had high hopes for the young athlete representing the native Murmansk region at the competitions. The past season inspired confidence in the great future of the young biathlete, because Khasankayev showed successful results not only on the domestic, but also on the international stage.
