Bulgarian coach Atanas Gambazki faces a harsh penalty after attacking two referees after his team's 2-2 defeat at home to Stromska Slava on Saturday.

Officials said the FA would discuss the incident early next week after watching television footage.

The angry Gambazaki lost his nerve and broke into the pitch after the visitors scored the winner in the 90th minute after Ivailo Ninkov was awarded a free kick.

Assistant referee Georgi Velikov tried to defend Ninkov and stood in front of him before receiving two punches in his face and a punch in his chest from Gambazki.

A 49-year-old police officer was taken out of the stadium. The whistle was fired shortly after the incident.

Gambazaki, who has previously trained several top-tier clubs including Slavia Sofia, Montana and his club, declined to comment.

Several officials - including European rulers - have been attacked in Bulgaria in past years, which have seen widespread accusations of corruption in the domestic league.

The Union of the Game and the rulers of the Black Sea state have been criticized by clubs and media for fanaticism, including Ludogurts, who won the league title several times in a row after his first-time debut in 2011.
