Novak Djokovic (Serbia), the No. 1 tennis player in the men's tennis world, failed to advance to the quarter-finals in the first clay court competition of the season.

Jocković won 2-1 (3-6, 6-4, 2-6) against Danil Medvedev (14th, Russia) in the sixth round of the men's professional tennis ATP tour Rolex Monte Carlo Masters tournament in Monaco, Monte Carlo.

Jockovich, who won the first Australian Open in January this year, finished the first clay court season in the quarterfinals with the opening of the French Open in May.

In the final round of the BNP Paribas Open, which was played after the Australian Open, the 32nd round of the Miami Open and the 16th round of the Miami Open were eliminated.

Jocković was in the third round of the tournament, defeating Medvedev 3-1 on the Australian Open this year.

Rafael Nadal (second place, Spain), who was in second seed, beat Pella (35th, Argentina) 2-0 (7-6, 7-1, 6-3).

Nadal, who is called "Emperor of the Clay Court", will challenge this championship for the fourth consecutive year since 2016.

Nadal, who had eight consecutive victories in the tournament from 2005 to 2012, struggled with a four-game-one-game score of just one set at Pella, but then recovered his lead in the game with a seven-to-one tiebreak.

Nadal won the Monte Carlo Masters in 75 games with 71 wins and 4 losses.

Nadal and Fabio Ponni (18th, Italy) will face each other in the semifinals of the tournament with Medvedev - Doosan Rayo Beach (48th Serbia).
