Just days after his retirement from active professional football, former England captain John Terry has a new job. The 37-year-old is assistant coach at second division Aston Villa, for whom the former center-back had played until the summer - and whose captain he was.

As the club from Birmingham announced, Dean Smith is the new coach, the Spaniard Jesus Garcia Pitarch comes as the new sports director. Previous rumors had it that former French international Thierry Henry could become team manager at Aston Villa.

Terry played for Aston Villa after nearly two decades for Chelsea last season. Terry graduated in his career 492 games in the Premier League and came 109 times in the Champions League used. With Chelsea he won five English championships and 2012 Champions League.
