Worker Aldina (26) participated in the volunteer as "I am excited to meet players from various countries and I am proud that I can help the tournament." I got a letter of recommendation from the Organizing Committee and applied for an 18-day paid vacation to an IT-related company that I work for.
The Organizing Committee started recruiting volunteers in January, and approximately 23,000 people applied. Through documents and interviews, 13 thousand people passed. There are many young people aged 18-23 and over half are college students. To the volunteer, a free pass of the route bus is provided, and apart from that, a daily allowance of 300 thousand rupiah (about 2300 yen) is paid as a meal expenses and transportation allowance.
"About 300 thousand rupiah is as much as Jakarta's general workers earn on the day," Aldina said.
