According to the Hokkaido Board of Education, a total of 121 public elementary and junior high schools and high schools in Hokkaido are temporarily closed due to the snowstorm.

Temporary school closures mainly in the Okhotsk, Kushiro, and Nemuro regions include:

▽ 51 public elementary schools,


▽ 34 public junior high schools,


▽ 3 compulsory education schools,


▽27 public high schools,


▽3 public special needs schools, for a total of 121 schools.



The Hokkaido Board of Education cited the reasons for the temporary school closures as the danger of children and students going to school due to snowstorms, and the difficulty of going to school due to the suspension of JR and buses.



In addition to this, 24 schools are planning to delay the start time, and 1 school is planning to leave the school earlier.
